In probate proceedings the conservator needs to be bonded through a proper bonding agency to ensure that the conservatee's assets are not at risk of being stolen or lost. The bond for a conservatorship of the estate is calculated through a formula. The conservator usually need an attorney to be considered eligible for a bond.
In the case of a LPS conservatorship, the public conservator does not need a bond. Rather the public conservator takes an oath of office when they assume role of public conservator. This is in lieu of a conservator's bond.
